Pork Nilaga
Easy to cook boiled pork soup with vegetables. A perfect meal during the cold winter months!
Serves: 4
Ingredients
- 600 grams Pork Shoulder , chunked
- 1 medium onion, quartered
- 4 pieces white salad potatoes, sliced into quarter or half
- 4 pieces small carrots, chunked
- 1 teaspoon peppercorns
- 1 liter Continental Liquid Stock Vegetable
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- ¼ cabbage, quartered
- 12 pieces green beans
To Serve:
- steamed rice
- fish sauce
- fish sauce with chili and freshly squeezed calamansi or lemon (optional)
Method
- Slice the pork into chunks. Set aside.
- Place the pork, onion, potato, carrots and peppercorns in the stock pot. Then pour the vegetable broth and water. Let it boil, then reduce the heat. Cover and simmer for 40 minutes, approximately.
- Season with fish sauce.
- Lastly, add cabbage and green beans then cook for at least 10 minutes, approximately.
- Remove from the heat.
- Serve hot.
