Beef Giniling (Beef Mince)

This is our lockdown food recipe in winter season. Beef giniling (beef mince) is a Filipino dish that is very affordable for everyone! The leftover can be mix in scramble egg, filling for bread such as pandesal or just reheat and serve with steamed rice.

Ingredients

  • 700 grams Australian Beef Mince (82% meat and 18% fat)
  • 300 grams McCain Frozen Mixed Vegetables (peas, corn and carrots)
  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 pieces fresh bay leaf
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 piece large tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 piece medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 4 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons of fish sauce
  • 1 piece Continental Beef Stock Pot, dissolved in 2 cups boiling water
  • ½ cup raisins
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste



Method

  1. Heat the olive oil in the large sauce pan. 
  2. Sauté the garlic, onion and tomatoes until soft. 
  3. Add the tomato paste, tomato sauce, and mince beef, then cook for few minutes 
  4. Pour the prepared beef stock and add the potatoes, then cook for at least 20 minutes.
  5. Season with soy sauce, fish sauce and freshly ground black pepper.
  6. Add the raisins and frozen vegetables. Let it simmer for at least 5 minutes or until the potatoes is cooked through and the sauce is reduced.
  7. Serve with steamed rice.
